EV parking: a charging facility is not a live charging guarantee

Confirm parking and charging compatibility before adding a car park to your plan.

Treat an EV label as a first step

An EV label only says that the source records a related facility. It does not guarantee an available bay, working equipment, compatibility with your vehicle or an immediate charging session. Use it to narrow a search, then verify.

Check compatibility item by item

Before leaving, check the station location, connector or standard, power, opening hours, charging terms and whether the operator requires an app, payment or reservation. The EPD says some providers offer live status or reservations in apps; that is not a promise for every station.

Confirm parking and charging separately

Even where a charger is at the target car park, private-car bays, charging bays, height limits and entry conditions can differ. Check on-site signs and the operator’s guidance on arrival, and keep a non-charging alternative in mind.

FAQ

Does “EV” mean a charging bay is free? No; check the operator’s live information or the on-site status. Is public charging always free? No; operators provide fee-charging services in government car parks, so check terms before use.
