How to read live parking-vacancy data
Read a space count together with its source time and data status.
The data is reported by participating operators
The Transport Department dataset combines basic and vacancy data from participating car parks; it is not a complete live list of every car park in Hong Kong. Missing data does not mean no space, or no car park.
Check the update time first
The official update frequency ranges from hourly to real time. Before leaving, read the count with the provider timestamp and a recent, possibly stale or unavailable status; a number alone cannot confirm entry now.
Use it to choose the next place to try
If data is stale, zero or unavailable, check nearby alternatives and whether the vehicle and height fit. Follow on-site instructions on arrival; entrances, road access, reserved bays and operations can change actual availability.
FAQ
Is zero the same as unavailable? No; zero is a reported value, while unavailable has no usable report. Why can a space disappear before arrival? Data has an update interval and other drivers may enter meanwhile.
